High Penetration of PV plants into the utility grid became one of the main points to decrease the Overall LCOE and to reduce GHG Emissions by Conventional generation and traditional use of Energy.
Considering the fact that the High penetration of Renewables will affect the Grid Quality and in order to enhance the Grid capabilities and Reduce the LOCE in Long Term, the Integration of Energy Storage System with Renewable and in the Utility Grid is one of the most important points to Increase the Grid Quality, Reduce instability of Renewables Penetration, Increase the Overall System reliability and Decrease the LCOE to the minimum.

This Workshop/tutorial gives the basics understanding and overview of power quality and harmonics topics. The Workshop/tutorial will cover the broad area of Power Quality (PQ) disturbances and issues which includes harmonics, flicker, unbalance, voltage sags and swells. PQ international standards: IEEE and IEC standards will be reviewed, Harmonics Emission from Modern Loads: residential, commercial and industrial loads will be discussed, and Power Quality Issues and Challenges due to Renewable Energy Resources integration will be investigated. The Workshop includes experimental measurement sessions for several single and three phase loads.
