Short Biography:

 

arch. yankova has over 30 years of professional experience in architectural design and over 20 years of teaching experience. she graduated from the university of architecture, civil engineering and geodesy in sofia, bulgaria in 1981. the following years she worked as designer in state design institutes in the field of public, sports and industrial buildings, as well as private housing.

acquiring extensive experience during the years, arch. yankova established a design oriented firm dedicated to quality, functionality, esthetics, and efficiency. gradually the bureau started providing additional services, such as consultancy on project planning, urban planning and real estate.

the architectural bureau has worked on a wide variety of designs such as cultural, sports facilities, banking, office, retail centers, industrial buildings and warehouses, hotels, residential buildings, houses and many others.

many of the projects designed by the company are laureates and winners of a number of national awards, such as prize of the union of architects in bulgaria for 2005, building of the year for 2005 and 2010.

since 1993  arch. yankova starts her teaching career in the national academy of arts in sofia, in the advertising design department and in 2003 she becomes associate professor in the same department. at the moment she is head of department design in advertising.

 

Abstract:

Graduates from the Department of Design in Advertising  in the National Academy of Art, Sofia may perform design, high-tech design and artistic activities in the field of advertising design with projects of posters and sculptures, advertising showrooms, commercial advertising corporate offices, retail stores, advertising exhibition stands, trade and industrial exhibitions, international exhibitions and museums, as well as the accompanying trademarks, registered fonts, souvenirs, brochures, catalogs, leaflets, posters, billboards, banners, etc.

Master degree holders in Design of Advertising acquire general academic expertise in the field of art management, psychology of creativity, contemporary art, advertising design (synthesis between disciplines Spatial Design, Graphic Design and Advertising), marketing, multimedia arts, new techniques of design process.

The education in Art schools and Universities is not only based on vocation of the students and interest in the profession, but also on excellent artistic skills and talents.

 The students ‘careers are not only based on jobs and salaries, but  on artistic manifestation of their talents.

The education in Design in advertising  comprises the combination of two controversial  topics which are the art and aesthetics on one hand and the requirements and of the customers on the other.

The most characteristic features of the education in advertising design is the symbiosis between graphic design and spatial plastic design to achieve  one total concept for representing the customers’ requirements towards the public presentation of their products, companies or organizations.

The education in this department is organized in small groups of students – max 10-12 in order to achieve closer communication between the students and the lecturing staff, development of their visual imagination and plastic thinking and generation of wider range of ideas.
